Just thought I would show you how my research question has evolved thus far:
ORIGINAL RESEARCH QUESTION: Should current eyewitness identification procedures and the use of eyewitness identifications in court be revised to reduce the number of wrongful convictions due to eyewitness misidentification?
MODIFIED RESEARCH QUESTION: Should eyewitness identification procedures and the use of eyewitness identifications in court be revised to reduce the number of wrongful convictions due to misidentification?
SECOND MODIFIED RESEARCH QUESTION: Should there be due process protection against eyewitness identification evidence that is unreliable by scientific research standards, or only identifications made under suggestive circumstances orchestrated by the police?
THIRD MODIFIED RESEARCH QUESTION: Should courts use a stricter version of the Manson reliability test when judging the admissibility of evidence in order to decrease the number of wrongful convictions due to misidentification?
CURRENT RESEARCH QUESTION: Should courts reconsider applying the factors of the Manson reliability test to prevent more wrongful convictions based on eyewitness misidentification?
That's right - I'm on Version 5.0 now. I think I might even refine it a little more before I actually start writing my paper...
