Self-Efficacy: n. the belief in one's capabilities to organize and execute the courses of action required to manage prospective situations
Self-efficacy and self-esteem are related, but different concepts. Self-efficacy is an individual's own perception of capability, whereas self-esteem is a person's evaluation of self-worth.
Self-efficacy can develop from mastery experiences, in which we persevere and achieve goals and also when we observe others succeed through perseverance.
